dvd on tap: Scent of a Woman [Martin Brest]

Actor's Studio
Prep school student Charlie Simms (Chris O'Donnell) spends Thanksgiving holiday by taking a job housesitting a blind man, so he can save money to go home for Christmas. What turns out to a supposedly boring task morphs into an unexpected trip to New York for a night of wine, women and dance. The blind man is Lt Col Frank Slade (Al Pacino), a cranky old veteran, and he doesn't let his lack of sight and mobility bother him from enjoying the finer things in life. As soon as his niece packs her family up for a weekend break, Slade drags Charlie along with him as his aide to New York City for a pleasure trip. Pacino finally bagged an Oscar on this one, and speaking of Thanksgiving turkeys, director Brest's reputation took a dive after serving up Gigli last year. So i guess this one's all solely because of Al. Hoo-haa!!

"what's so funny? just because am blind, you think i can't score with the chicks??".
