dvd on tap: Bean [Mel Smith]

BUST-A-GUT WEEK
The beloved walking disaster known to millions as Bean made the crossover from TV to film in 1997 (and was promptly relegated to history thereafter). The script has him crossing the pond to America, sent by his employers at the Royal National Gallery in London, to officiate the unveiling of an important painting in a Los Angeles museum. He's only on that plane because the Gallery chairman is protecting him from being fired. The moment he sets foot on American soil, hysterical hijinks ensue. Most of the gags are drawn from his hit TV series, but they are all still cringe-inducing and on certain moments, will have you laughing silly. Rowan Atkinson was born to play Bean, and Peter MacNicol is perfect as the museum curator caught in the Bean train wreck.

... And God hiccuped.
