As remakes go, this again goes either way with horror movie fans, especially the loyalists to the Tobe Hooper original. Several elements have been changed, though this 2003 version ups the gore ante for more shock value. Basic premise is the same: a group of five young people pass through a little-known Texas town and promptly gets terrorized and chopped up by the town's psychotic residents - the main boogeyman, of course, being the infamous chainsaw-wielding Leatherface. Jessica Biel leads the new group screaming her head off, and for extra appeal, runs around in a sweaty tight tank top. That probably already accounted for half of the ticket sales.
The group wasn't sure why their hitchhiker needed a hole in her head.
