i'm back to using my iPod's default white earphones, owing to the fact that my Shure earphones had wire damage. don't get me wrong - they gave me the best sound for 2 years; its my fault that i didn't take care of the cables when not in use. now i miss it a lot, because i can hear the inferior quality of the iPod earphones. i have to turn up the volume just to hear anything (or was i deaf already), which further risks my hearing. Shure definitely cancels noise, and even the roaring approach of a subway train doesn't prevent me from grooving to the Crystal Method, or hearing what Colin Cowherd was ranting about.

replacement Shures: $100. maybe next month.
