Canadian singer/songwriter (wow, there's more to that country than just South Park, Mounties and Bryan Adams haha) Holly Cole fits well in smoky jazz lounges (performed as part of the Holly Cole Trio), but there's an inner longing here to rock out as well. But as it is, her strengths are those pop-jazz ballads which make you really pay attention. Even if your wallet's empty.
