Imagine if a group of uncultured natives adopted a punk attitude and found a garage full of disco and rock n roll LPs, and a bunch of mixing and synthesizer equipment. The result would be this fine party fratboy record. Though they border on the pretentious (actually intentional) by the end of it, the toe-tappers (at the minimum) are worth the price of admission - for example, the cool single Losing My Edge is an amusing spoken/drawled pataasan-ng-ihi rant about your music IQ. James Murphy, who sings like a cross between a lazy Mick Jagger and a young Fred Schneider, passed up a writing gig on Seinfeld to follow his other muse. Good for him, better for us.
